La Vie en Vert: Over 40 Years of Commitment to Preserving Nature in the Heart of the Vosges
For over forty years, La Vie en Vert has been a true pioneer in the environmentally responsible management of its activities. Located in a protected area, home to exceptional wildlife and plant life, the centre is committed to ensuring that its practices respect and help preserve this fragile ecosystem.
A Commitment That Goes Back Decades
Certified with the Ecolabel in 2022, éthic étapes La Vie en Vert has been committed to environmental protection for nearly 50 years. As early as the 1980s, at a time when environmental awareness was far from widespread, the establishment introduced a number of sustainable practices:
- A complete ban on chemical products in its green spaces
- The introduction of selective waste sorting
- The development of educational and nature conservation tools, including bird nesting boxes, an educational pond, a herb garden, an arboretum and more. These facilities are now available to all groups staying at the château!
A Daily Commitment to CSR
Today, this commitment goes beyond the management of green spaces and extends to a comprehensive CSR approach that is embedded in the teams’ daily work: sourcing from local producers through short supply chains, supporting interns and volunteers in gaining experience and developing self-awareness, implementing a Diversity Charter, promoting the inclusion of people with disabilities, and protecting the privacy and well-being of team members.
Valeurs Parc naturel régional: the collective brand of the Regional Nature Parks network
Recently, the establishment was awarded the Valeurs Parc naturel régional collective brand in the “Educational Services” category, recognising its nature activities, educational programmes and group stays.
This certification rewards local professionals who are committed to supporting the local economy and preserving their environment. It reflects the values promoted by the Regional Nature Parks, including a strong connection to the local area, a strong human and social dimension, and the preservation and enhancement of local heritage.
