Written by Camille Lefevre, apprentice at Parc Départemental d’Olhain

Since the beginning of my apprenticeship, I’ve been discovering a truly unique place every day: Parc Départemental d’Olhain. Nestled in the heart of 450 hectares of nature, this site constantly surprises me with its diversity, activities, and unique atmosphere. My mission? To showcase this adventure-filled destination by highlighting its unusual accommodations, year-round events, and above all, its eco-responsible commitments. An exciting challenge in an equally inspiring setting!

Less than an hour from Lille, Arras, and Lens, Parc Départemental d’Olhain welcomes you to one of the largest developed natural spaces in northern France. Across more than 450 hectares of forests, meadows, and rolling hills, enjoy a unique experience combining relaxation, sports, and adventure.

Accommodations in the heart of nature

The park offers several accommodation options suited to individual, family, or group stays:

  • 20 chalets/cabins with 6 beds each, located in the park’s campsite, for a complete immersion in nature.
  • The Résidence des Terrasses, featuring 18 comfortable rooms for 2 to 3 people, all equipped with private bathrooms.
  • The Résidence des Jardins, with 24 rooms offering 3 or 6 beds, ideal for groups, school discovery trips, sports stays, or associations.
  • 4 “Nids d’Île,” unusual bubble-shaped accommodations suspended in the trees, for a unique overnight stay in the heart of the forest.
  • A panoramic restaurant with local flavors

The park also has its own panoramic restaurant, serving homemade cuisine prepared with fresh products sourced from short supply chains and local producers—all in a bright setting with breathtaking views of the surrounding nature.

A true adventure playground

Parc Départemental d’Olhain is a paradise for sports, leisure, and nature lovers:

  • Four-season toboggan run: 1 km of downhill fun for the whole family, summer and winter alike.
  • Suspended nets: a huge secure aerial play area for children and adults.
  • Giant zip line: 575 meters of descent from a 40-meter-high tower!
  • Archery, mountain bike trails, orienteering courses, treetop adventure parks, compact golf, marked hiking trails, heated outdoor swimming pool (seasonal), playgrounds, and more.

A strong environmental commitment

The park is fully committed to an eco-responsible approach: sustainable construction, biodiversity awareness activities, and the promotion of environmentally respectful tourism.

A place alive all year round

Parc Départemental d’Olhain hosts numerous events throughout the year:

  • Easter egg hunt
  • “Made in Zombie” night orienteering race
  • Olhainween, the major Halloween celebration
  • Bivouac music festival
